In the fall of 2004 two undergraduate students Christina Coleman and Venton Jones were working on separate projects inspired by their desire to give back to the Black community at Texas A&M University.  After learning of each other's efforts toward founding a new student organization and wanting to make the most of their efforts, they determined to collaborate on an organization that would unify and build community, as well as serve as a voice to university administration.

With an opening celebratory reception in 2005, the Black Student Alliance Council (BSAC) launched as an effort to unite Black Aggies.  Student leaders founded the BSAC to serve as a sounding board in formulating a voice for Black students at Texas A&M University.

HISTORY

Housed in the Department of Multicultural Services, BSAC has a purpose to enhance and unify the Black community while making the Texas A&M campus more aware of the accomplishments, achievements and needs of the Black student body.  BSAC desires to foster the commitment and investment of Black students in the Black Aggie Community by serving as an ally.

BSAC recognizes and respects the role of Black student organizations at Texas A&M University, so the focus of BSAC is to support Black students and Black student organizations in reaching their missions, purposes and goals as a unifying body.  BSAC serves as a formal, consistent, and persistent voice bridging the Black Aggie Community to the university administrative community.
